< Ericka Nicole Malone: Director Bio Continued

Ericka picks herself up now determined to make it at all costs she courageously approaches the Student Activities Director in the Administrative Department and asked if she could produce plays at the Downing University Center at $3.00 a ticket and use all profits to pay for tuition, housing and education.  Her first performance drew 800 people and other plays produced thereafter drew thousands more.

By this time Ericka had begun to find herself and her natural leadership skills began to evolve.  Others began to see the natural born leader in her and through her guidance she helped to re-establish as President, the Omega Delta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.  She won several awards on the Western Kentucky University Debate Team and was first-runner-up in the Ms. Western Kentucky University Pageant with her former background as a model.

At the age of 19, after performing several works and making a name for herself at Western Kentucky University, Ericka sets out with a cast of mostly college students with her original play, “Sister Soul” at the Louisville Memorial Auditorium.  Now this is where the true star begins to shine.  After several works, nine-stage plays to be exact, Ericka has toured all across the country not withstanding she held a position with the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World as the National Drama Director for six years under Elder Noah Nicholson at the tender age of 23.

Along the way there have been many other writings; a book of poetry written with her mother, The Heart and Soul of Mother’s and Daughter’swas published in 2003 with Chicago Spectrum Press.  A soundtrack for “In Love With Tyrone” with songs penned by Ericka and arranged by Trey Latham is debuting in 2009.

“In Love With Tyrone” centers around Tyrone, played by the hilarious Brian L. Roberts, is a story about a woman’s struggle to redefine herself after she is betrayed by her first love and her best friend...her husband.  What happens when the right woman falls in love with the wrong man?  A woman’s path to redemption takes a journey through denial, pain and finally rediscovery.  Only a woman can truly tell a story about another woman. 

“In Love With Tyrone” assimilates a story women have told a million times before but only Ericka Nicole Malone can make you feel like you’ve seen it for the first time.  Passion, Love, Betrayal, Pain and Restoration.  This play will help you remember what it was like when you found God for the first time and when you let the man or woman you love go….for the last time.

Ericka Nicole Malone has this philosophy about life.  “Fight for what you want.  Follow your dreams and do what you are born to do.”   She knows how tough it is to be a female writer in Hollywood.  But she is breaking down barriers that she is faced with at every turn.
